The new CTC Intermodality blog

Read it, especially the most recent post on optimizing the new Metro LRT/BRT system to minimize transfers. Really thoughtful stuff. I'm not sure how tricky it is to schedule and route the trains like Cristof recommends, but if it's doable it seems like it would make the system much more rider-friendly.

I'm also a big fan of his third post on our under-exploited HOV network.

Yes, both the first and third posts are great. I'm a big fan of Cristof's articles and graphics that appear in Cite. They are always top notch.

Now imagine taking that third post map and using it as a tool to really integrate the lrt/brt/hov, to develop pedestrian-friendly nodes at key HOV spots, and so forth. The fact that we've never seen a map like that before speaks volumes about how far we need to go to develop a true transit SYSTEM and not just a series of discrete lines and routes.

I strongly agree with Tory's and rj's posts. With the current LRT / BRT plan, opportunities will abound for efficient integration with Park and Ride service - at Northwest Transit Center, Westpark Transit Center (to be built at the south end of Post Oak Boulevard), and even the Eastwood Transit Center if the Universities line runs on Elgin. It is a terrible shame our fantastic Park and Ride service, to Downtown at least, gets so little love - it's a lot better than commuter rail would be.

Excellent link, Tory.

I'm sorry the comment spam morons have discovered your site.
